Crystal Palace have agreed a new club-record £7million (€8,857,800) fee with Wigan for midfielder James McArthur.

Leicester City had agreed a £7million deal (€8,857,800) for Scotland midfielder McArthur but pulled out of the deal after snaring Esteban Cambiasso instead.

Meanwhile Karim El Ahmadi has rejoined Feyenoord on a three-year deal from Aston Villa.

The midfielder had been linked with a return to De Kuip — where he played between 2008 and 2012. El Ahmadi joined Villa from Feyenoord in 2012 for £2million (€2,530,200) and made 56 appearances, scoring three goals, for Paul Lambert’s men.

But with the form of Fabian Delph and the emergence of Ashley Westwood and Jack Grealish the Moroccan would have found his first team chances limited this season and Villa have now confirmed his exit.

Burnley have announced the transfer deadline day signing of forward George Boyd from Barclays Premier League rivals Hull. Boyd, 28, has joined the Clarets for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract.

The switch has been completed after Tigers boss Steve Bruce revealed on Sunday that he had allowed the Scotland international to talk to Burnley.

Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby is set to complete a move to Hamburg.

Holtby underwent a medical with the German club today ahead of a proposed season-long loan deal.

Holtby signed for Spurs in January 2013 from Schalke but has struggled to establish himself in the starting line-up at White Hart Lane. A six-month loan spell at Fulham last season proved unsuccessful as the Cottagers were relegated to the Championship and manager Felix Magath criticised Holtby’s attitude.

Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival as Spurs head coach offered renewed hope for the midfielder but despite a promising pre-season campaign, Holtby has not started any of Tottenham’s three Premier League matches so far.

Fiorentina are on the verge of signing England defender Micah Richards on a season-long loan from Manchester City, according to reports in Italy.

Richards arrived in Florence this morning to undergo a medical before completing his switch to the Serie A outfit.

As part of the agreement, Fiorentina will hold an option to make Richards’ move permanent next summer.

The 26-year-old right-back had turned down an option to sign a new contract with City earlier this year and was looking for a fresh challenge having fallen behind Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna in the pecking order.

Richards has made almost 250 appearances for the Blues outfit since making his debut with the club in 2005.
