Members of the FAI's board of management will tomorrow meet the 'headhunting' team entrusted with finding a successor to Steve Staunton.
Chief executive John Delaney, president David Blood, honorary secretary Michael Cody and honorary treasurer Eddie Murray will travel to England for face to face talks.
"The meeting is to inform members of the panel of the conditions and requirements for the position as well as answering any questions that may arise," an FAI spokesman said tonight.
Following the meeting "the recruitment panel will take charge of the next stage in the process", an FAI statement said.
The precise make-up of the three man panel remains unclear although former England coach Don Howe is almost certainly involved in the process.
Republic of Ireland under-21 boss Don Givens is also expected to meet with the FAI board members despite denying his involvement earlier this week.
Former Irish captain Andy Townsend ruled himself out of the process last night and it is not sure if the headhunting team will now have a third member.
