Henrik Larsson steps back into the Champions League arena tomorrow night with Alex Ferguson looking for the veteran Swede to guide Manchester United into the last eight.

Although Larsson's short-term future continues to be heavily debated, as it presently stands the 35-year-old will be returning to Helsingborg on March 12th.

It means the two-legged knock-out round clash with Lille will be Larsson's only involvement for the Red Devils in a tournament where he ended last season by climbing off the bench to inspire Barcelona's comeback win over Arsenal in the final in Paris.

Larsson has already made a huge impact at Old Trafford, far beyond the two goals he has scored since arriving on January 1st.

The spin-off of the striker's presence should be a greater maturity in the form of Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha. But Ferguson is also hoping Larsson can use his experience to maintain the current three-pronged trophy quest.

"Henrik has made an impact on everyone since he arrived," said the Scot. "Players like Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha must look at Henrik in terms of his movement, awareness of space and the finishing he shows in every training session.

"He is a fantastic professional. His concentration is excellent. But the real bonus will be if if he takes us into the later stages of everything we are challenging for at the moment."
