Los Angeles Galaxy have dismissed any prospect of David Beckham returning to Europe on loan.
The midfielder is currently out for six weeks with a knee injury and misses England's Euro 2008 qualifying double-header with Israel and Russia.
With the MLS season finishing in November, and not resuming until next spring, there have been suggestions that Beckham would come back to Europe to maintain his fitness.
But LA Galaxy president Alexi Lalas believes Beckham will need to rest during the winter months, rather than return to the Premier League or Spain.
"We would not consider it," said Lalas. "David is an important part of our organisation for now and for the future. We have this period now where he is going to get physically fit.
"Any talk of loans and transfers and all that kind of stuff is pure speculation and rumour, and not something we have even discussed let alone entertained.
"He has been playing at a very high-pressured level for a long time now and he needs to get healthy.
"Once the season is over, he and all of our players need to get a physical and mental rest, and really be given the opportunity to decompress and evaluate the experience they have gone through." PA
