The result gave second-placed Inter 39 points from 18 matches, 10 points behind Juventus, who beat Palermo 2-1 last night.

AC Milan, third on 37 points, can climb above Inter if they beat Parma at the San Siro stadium in a later match.

Livorno beat Sampdoria 2-0 to rack up their fourth win in five matches and consolidate fifth place on 34 points. Chievo Verona, sixth on 30 points, defeated Lecce 3-1.
