Republic of Ireland international Graham Kavanagh will play his first game of the year today when he lines out for Sunderland's reserves against Hibernian.
The Dubliner is recovering from his second knee operation this season and last played for the Championship side against Crystal Palace in December.
Kavanagh has endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines having returned too early from the initial injury in September. However, he is confident that setback is now behind him.
Should he come through the game unscathed, the 33-year-old will be in contention for a role in the senior side as Roy Keane's table-toppers prepare for their final three league games.
Kavanagh's former international team-mate and captain, Kenny Cunningham, will also play in today's game at Sunderland's training ground.
Sunderland have announced a sponsorship deal with bookmakers Boylesports.
The Irish firm have agreed a four-year, performance-related partnership with the club which could eventually amount to an eight-figure sum.
The company, which will also provide betting facilities at the Stadium of Light, replaces motor dealers Reg Vardy after eight years.
