Aberdeen captain Russell Anderson is holding talks with Sunderland, according to his agent. The Scotland defender, 28, and his representative Blair Morgan headed south of the border to thrash out a move after a fee, reported to be £1million, was agreed with the Dons.
North east rivals Middlesbrough had also been linked with Anderson but Black Cats boss Roy Keane now looks more likely to land the centre-half.
Keane is also believed to be interested in West Brom's defensive duo Paul McShane and Paul Robinson.
Reports from the Black Country have suggested Roy Keane is ready to make a £5million bid for the pair. There was no comment from either club, although it is understood no offer has yet been tabled.
