Celtic midfielder Roy Keane will be sidelined for up to a month with a hamstring tear, manager Gordon Strachan has confirmed.
Keane suffered the injury in Sunday's 3-0 League Cup final win over Dunfermline, limping off after an hour, and Strachan told journalists: "He will be out for three or four weeks.
"It was a shame because he was really buzzing and one of the commentators put him down for man of the match in that first hour. He was excellent.
"It's a shame for him because he has been playing excellent football and in a nice partnership with a nice midfield going there but we will just get on with it."
Celtic look safely on course for the Scottish Premier League title with or without the former Manchester United man as they lead Hearts by 14 points with a game in hand.
Keane, 34, said last week that this might be his last season because of a hip injury but Strachan said the player's future had still be to discussed.
"There is nothing changed from the conversation when he had before he signed, it was the same thing," he said.
"Players always decide their future. Why should he let the fans know? It's his career, he decides when he wants to talk about it, just like he did last week when he decided to talk about it. It wasn't an announcement it was a general conversation."
