Sunderland manager Roy Keane is hopeful of signing Wigan's Leighton Baines and Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon "in the next few days".

Keane has been busy in the transfer market already this summer, spending over £15million on Russell Anderson, Michael Chopra, Dickson Etuhu, Greg Halford and Kieran Richardson.

But he has not finished his shopping spree yet, and aims to wrap up the captures of Baines and Gordon this week.

Latics left-back Baines has opened the door to a move to the Stadium of Light by refusing to sign a new contract with Chris Hutchings' troops.

And Gordon is set to leave Tynecastle as Keane is reportedly ready to stump up the £10million asking price for the Scotland international.
