St Patrick's Athletic 4-2 Longford Town: St Patrick's Athletic moved to within one point of league leaders Drogheda United after their 4-2 win over Longford Town this afternoon.
The home side's goal spree came through Michael Keane, Anthony Murphy, Ryan Guy and Alan Kirby, while Longford's goals came from Dave Mooney and Pat Sullivan.
Keane opened the St Pat's account on 12 minutes after a low drive beat Shay Kelly in the Longford goal and that's how it stay until halftime.
Murphy was next on the score sheet when he headed home on 51. Mooney responded for Longford on 70 minutes when he converted from a corner. However, Pats advantage was increased once more when Guy scored five minutes later.
Sullivan gave the visitors a glimmer of hope when he drove home with seven minutes remaining but the icing on the cake came when Kirby slotted home right on the final whistle.
Today's other action saw Athlone Town and Kilkenny City play out a 1-1 draw in the First Division.
Last night Sligo Rovers and Galway United also drew 1-1 while First Division hopefuls Cobh Ramblers beat Limerick 37 2-1 at home.
