Cyprus 3 Wales 1: Cyprus fired a warning shot across Ireland's bows ahead of next Wednesday's clash at Croke Park with  humbling defeat of Wales tonight.

Cyprus, who defeated Steve Staunton's side 5-2 earlier in the campaign, ended Wales' hopes of a third successive away victory in emphatic style.

Despite going into the break one goal up, Wales' hopes were obliterated in a shocking 21-minute second-half spell, during which they conceded three times in this European Championship qualifier.

Wales can now kiss goodbye to any chance of finishing third in Group D, exposed by a country who used to be the makeweights of Europe.
