Portsmouth 0 West Ham 0:Portsmouth missed the opportunity to climb into the Premier League's top four as Robert Green earned West Ham a point with a stoppage-time penalty save to deprive Premier League top scorer Benjani Mwaruwari a sixth goal in four games.
Danny Gabbidon was ruled to have handled in the area by referee Mike Dean but Green dived to his right to make the save after Pompey players argued over who should take the spotkick.
But it could have been a lot worse for Pompey who were seeking their fifth straight league win as Nolberto Solano missed two golden chances to win it for Hammers.
Pompey largely ran the game and West Ham had Keeper Green to thank for saving them on more than one occassion. But Portsmouth began showing signs of flagging late on, leading Harry Redknapp to send on Kanu in place of the ineffective Utaka, his Nigerian team-mate, with 14 minutes to go.
There was also a change for West Ham with Jon Spector replacing the hapless Solano but West Ham were now looking the most likely to break the deadlock.
But it was Benjani, five goals in his previous three games, who took the penalty nearly five minutes into stoppage time which hero Green saved to earn the Hammers a point after Gabbidon was ruled to have handled in the area.
