Portsmouth have agreed in principle on a new three-year contract for manager Harry Redknapp.

Portsmouth have agreed in principle on a new three-year contract for manager Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp steered Pompey to safety against the odds after returning to the club in December after originally leaving them for bitter rivals Southampton in December 2004.

A statement on the club's website read: "Portsmouth Football Club announced this evening that it has reached an agreement in principle with Harry Redknapp in relation to a three-year contract as manager of the club.

"The deal is part of Pompey's long-term vision and commitment to bring stability, professionalism and success both on and off the pitch."
