Alex Ferguson took no chances with Wayne Rooney for Manchester United's Premier League game against West Ham today but the manager confirmed the striker will be fit for the Champions League final.

Rooney has been troubled by a hip injury and, like Nemanja Vidic, was left out as Ferguson stuck with the same starting line-up which sealed the famous win over Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final last Tuesday.

Ferguson is hopeful Rooney will be fit in time for United's last game of the season away to Wigan next week.

Victory for United at Old Trafford today, coupled with a defeat for Chelsea at Newcastle on Monday, would be enough to clinch the title. And West Ham, with 13 players injured, including Freddie Ljungberg, were not expected to put up much resistance.
