Shamrock Rovers moved to within three points of leaders Drogheda United with a 2-0 win over UCD at Tolka Park this evening.
Goals from Ger Rowe and Tadhg Purcell, both headers, earned the points for Pat Scully's side as they kept the pressure on Drogheda and second-placed St Patrick's Athletic.
Rowe broke the deadlock shortly after the break, taking advantage of slack marking at a corner to power home and claim his third goal in as many games.
Purcell, who was withdrawn following a knock to the head shortly after his goal, made sure of the points 20 minutes from time leaving Rovers, who take on St Pat's on Friday night, to reflect on a job well done.
