Alex McLeish is expected to be appointed Scotland manager on Monday. The Scottish Football Association have called a press conference that morning and will confirm Walter Smith's successor.
Former Motherwell, Hibernian and Rangers manager McLeish is hotly tipped for the post. Ex-Scotland captain Gary McAllister is also in the running.
The SFA are keen to make a quick appointment, with crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers against Georgia and Italy looming in March.
McLeish came through two successful interviews but is believed to have spent the last 24 hours negotiating contractual issues. He is reportedly seeking a deal until the summer of 2010.
Smith's deal lasted only as long as Scotland's involvement with the European Championships, and he opted for a more secure job at Rangers.
