Spurs 1-2 Man United: Wayne Rooney scored twice in an action-packed first half as Manchester United showed commendable defiance in their bid to prolong the race for the Premiership title.
The Red Devils won 2-1 at Tottenham for a victory that ensured Chelsea must wait at least another week to claim a second successive crown and dented Spurs' hopes of fending off Arsenal for the fourth and final Champions League spot.
The first was the result of brilliant work by Cristiano Ronaldo whose cross cross set up the England striker for an easy touch. And the second came after Park Ji-Sung pressured his South Korean compatriot Lee Young-Pyo into giving the ball away in his own box allowing Rooney the simplest of finishes.
But Spurs were back in it eight minutes after the break when Nemanja Vidic headed a corner against team-mate Rio Ferdinand and it rebounded kindly for Jermaine Jenas to poke home from two yards but United held out largely in comfort.
