Munster Schools' Senior Cup/St Munchin's College 13-12 Castletroy College:Holders St Munchin's College held on for a deserved 13-12 win over Castletroy College in the quarter-final of the Munster Schools' Senior Cup on the back pitch at Thomond Park yesterday. Having played with the aid of the strong breeze in the first half St Munchin's had turned over with a 13-0 lead.

Their star performer was scrumhalf Conor Murray, who in addition to his all round game, kicked a fifth-minute penalty and then wriggled in at the corner for a try after 22 minutes to add to the try scored by Anthony Barry in the 14th minute.

Castletroy had been outclassed in that period but a penalty by secondrow Darragh Frawley four minutes into the second half gave them a new lease of life. Ronan O'Mahony dropped a goal and the game finished in dramatic style when Seán Rennisson got a try in the corner in added time for Castletroy but Frawley's conversion attempt floated just wide to allow St Munchin's breathe a sigh of relief.
