Hockey: Three Rock Rovers slid further from the final top three reckoning when they travelled to Serpentine Avenue and met a Pembroke side determined to be in the final shake-up at the end of the season.

With eight games remaining, though, there is plenty of time to make some recovery, although Pembroke and Corinthians, sitting in second and third place respectively behind Glenanne, are in strong positions.

Rovers ended up on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat with the Pembroke goals shared between Alan Sothern, Gordon Elliott and Paddy Conlon. The win keeps Pembroke seven points off Glenanne, who have not yet lost in 11 outings. Saturday was no different, a 2-0 win over Monkstown keeping them well ahead of the rest.

Monkstown and Fingal, however, could still work their way into the top three and despite Fingal drawing 3-3 with bottom of the table Avoca, their 17 points to date are just a handful off Corinthians' 21 points total.

Avoca and Trinity are struggling to cut themselves away from the bottom, with the students just ahead with a win and two draws from 10 outings to Avoca's three draws from 11 outings. YMCA might also be slightly worried. Their 4-3 defeat to Corinthians leaves them on seven points, just two ahead of Trinity.
