Thursday’s meeting at Thurles has been cancelled due to the current spell of wet weather. A Turf Club statement said: “The fixture scheduled for Thurles on Thursday, January 31st, has been cancelled due to present ground conditions at the venue and an adverse weather forecast over the coming days.”
Meanwhile, Fairyhouse’s Peter Roe admits the course will “need a bit of luck” with the weather ahead of this weekend’s meeting. The Co Meath venue is due to stage a seven-race card on Saturday.
Roe said: “The forecast is very bad and we’re just going to have to keep watching things day by day. We’ve had a good bit of drying today but there are showers forecast for the next couple of days and then we are forecast up to an inch of rain on Friday. The hurdle track is in better shape than the chase track at the moment, so we’ll see. We need a bit of luck.”
