Tout A Coup landed her fourth win in listed company when making all under Niall McCullagh in the Dairygold Platinum Stakes at a rain-soaked Cork yesterday. The Ger Cusack-trained filly relishes a cut in the ground, and she certainly had conditions to suit, the ground changing from good to firm overnight to heavy after the fourth race.
Cusack is intent on finding a winning opportunity for his charge in pattern company before the end of the season, and nominated the Matron Stakes at the Curragh as a likely target.
Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning combined for a double with Jovine and Ballinola Lad. Jovine just held the late flourish of Prince Of Monaco in the EBF Maiden, while Manning gave Ballinola Lad a strong drive to hold the gambled-on Citizen Kane in the Dairygold Handicap.
Adrian Maguire made a flying visit worthwhile when winning the opening Carbon Chemicals Group Handicap Hurdle on his only ride, Zacopani. The five-year-old was ridden up with the pace throughout, and stayed on well in the straight to beat Vintners Venture by eight lengths.
The Mullins family enjoyed further success in the other jump race on the card when Willie's father, Paddy, saddled Ever So Bold to land the Dairygold Handicap Chase.
