Basketball Weekend previewsThe Tralee Tigers have been dominating the Southern Conference this year, with a 90 per cent success record, so they will relish the opportunity of putting further space between themselves and their main rivals, Neptune, on Sunday afternoon.

They travel to Dublin, where struggling St Vincent's provide the opposition.

Out of the cup and only clear of bottom club Shamrock Rovers on points difference, St Vincent's need to produce a big performance to stop the in-form Brandon Mason.

Mason's importance to the Tigers has increased as Damond Williams did not return after Christmas. The two players had racked up 465 points between them so far this season.

His replacement, the 6ft 8ins Travarus Bennett, has yet to light up a contest, but he has still not reached match fitness.

The country's most accomplished team have shown their mettle so far this year as Vinnie Murphy also jumped ship. Players like Rikardo Leonard, Michael Quirke and Kieran Donaghy have been in filling the void.

Killester will also be looking to stretch their lead at the top of the Northern Conference when they play Limerick in the UL Arena on Sunday. Their main rivals, Star of the Sea, must also travel south, to face Neptune.

Steve McCarthy is a major doubt for the Cork side after he picked up a calf strain in their cup victory over Waterford last week. Adrian Mullins is only resuming light training after a serious hip injury curtailed his involvement for all of last year.

The only other match on this cross-conference weekend sees UCD Marian host Waterford on the college campus.

Meanwhile, there are five matches in the Women's Superleague, the main event taking place in Limerick where unbeaten UL play second-placed Wildcats. Third-placed Killester travel to Tolka Rovers while the Drimnagh Dynamos play bottom club Meteors.

Glanmire will look to make a move from mid-table as they play St Paul's on Saturday, followed by the Wildcats on Sunday.
