Tyrone 1-22 Donegal 0-7Tyrone annihilated Donegal in the Dr McKenna Cup final at MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey, yesterday.
A goal by Brian McGuigan after 10 minutes, which was struck from 30 yards, put Tyrone well on their way to victory and they led by 1-8 to 0-1 by the time the game was 19 minutes old.
By half-time the lead was 13 points (1-11 to 0-1) and that trend continued in the second half and they led at one stage by 1-19 to 0-5.
The reigning All-Ireland champions lost last year's final of this competition to Monaghan but it seems that manager Mickey Harte's promise to treat every game and competition with the same importance is a warning to any team hoping to relieve them of their league and championship titles.
They may have been without sharpshooters Stephen O'Neill, Peter Canavan and Owen Mulligan but 13 of their All-Ireland final line-up played yesterday.
Kevin Hughes, Gerard Cavlan and Brian McGuigan pulled the strings but, in truth, Tyrone held the upper hand everywhere with their goalkeeper, John Devine, also making two brilliant saves.
