UCC 0-14 NUI Galway 0-7: UCC booked a semi-final place with a powerful second-half display at the Mardyke yesterday.
They struck for seven points without reply in a 20-minute period to set up a game against LIT next Wednesday. The teams were level at 0-5 each at the interval, but NUI Galway faded in the second period.
Tony Scroope edged the visitors ahead by a point within four minutes of the restart, but by the time they scored again in the 55th minute, the contest was over. Tom Kenny rifled over a wonderful equalising point and from there UCC pulled ahead, with Mark O'Connor proving lethal from placed balls, finishing with 0-6.
NUI Galway started brightly and led by 0-3 to 0-1 after 12 minutes, but despite the best efforts of Rory Hanniffy and Scroope, they couldn't sustain the effort.
