Liverpool supporters have been branded the worst in Europe in a Uefa report which will be presented to British sports minister Richard Caborn tomorrow.

Uefa, who commissioned undercover police agents to compile the report over the last four years, say there have been more incidents involving Liverpool fans than anyone else.

The report paints a damning picture of Liverpool fans' behaviour at last month's Champions League final in Athens.

Uefa spokesman William Gaillard said: "The incidents involving Liverpool fans have been well known to us before the trouble at the Champions League final which involved Liverpool fans. We know what happened in Athens, and Liverpool fans were the cause of most of the trouble there.

"There have been 25 incidents involving Liverpool fans away from home since 2003 and these are in the report - most teams' supporters do not cause any trouble at all."

Scott Parker is poised to join West Ham today, with Newcastle likely to replace him in their midfield with Joey Barton.

It is understood that 26-year-old Newcastle captain Parker has agreed terms with the London club, while the clubs have agreed a fee for the player.

That is expected to pave the way for Manchester City midfielder Barton to join the St James' Park club.

West ham held discussions with midfielder Parker on Thursday, after fighting off late interest from London rivals Tottenham.

The £7 million-rated former Charlton and Chelsea player met West Ham officials and is now expected to become Alan Curbishley's first signing of the summer. And Newcastle are likely to immediately plug the gap in their midfield by landing controversial 24-year-old Barton.

French striker Nicolas Anelka claims he has no plans to leave Bolton, but admits he "could not say no" to an offer from Manchester United.

Anelka denied any contact with United as he met the press at Clairefontaine but told L'Equipe he would have to consider an offer if it materialised. The 28-year-old said: "In England the same four clubs are always on top (United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool).

"So I want to play for those four big clubs . . . First I need to know if Bolton want to sell me. I have no particular desire (to leave)."
