FAI Cup Second round/ Drogheda United 0 Bohemians 1:It was always going to be tight and so it proved as a solitary goal five minutes into the second half by Darren Mansaram decided a cup tie that was short on goal chances.

For the greater part of the opening 40 minutes the match trundled along aimlessly as both sides failed to create a single goal chance of note.

Fortunately the latter stages of the half saw some spark as the home side went close to breaking the deadlock. Eamon Zayed's shot was deflected out for a corner off Liam Burns and from the kick the ball broke to Shane Robinson who saw his shot hooked from the line by Kevin Hunt. Robinson's strike from the edge of the box lacked power and his header back across goal failed to find a colleague as Drogheda finished the half with a flurry.

Twenty seconds into the second period United went close again when Gavin Whelan's cross found Zayed who cushioned his header into the path of Robinson who was denied by goalkeeper Brian Murphy.

Bohemians should have scored on 49 minutes when Owen Heary's cross from the left picked out John Paul Kelly six yards out. However, his shot was stopped by goalkeeper Mikko Vilmunen.

Barely a minute later the visitors broke the deadlock when Glen Crowe's ball into the box picked out Darren Manseram at the back post and he guided his shot home.

With 72 minutes on the watch Zayed raced on to a clearance from defence but drove his shot from 20 yards wide as an opportunity of an equaliser went abegging for United.

As the half wore on, at the other end Crowe was twice denied what would have been the insurance goal by Vilmunen while in between Shane Robinson's cross come shot deceived Murphy when it came back off the angle of post and crossbar as Zayed drove the loose ball over.

Two minutes from time Stephen Bradley's free found Steven Gray but he forced his header wide as Drogheda's final chance to force a replay came to nothing.
