Colleges Football MacRory Cup final: When St MacCartan's last won the Dr MacRory Cup the famed Fr Enda McCormick was principal of the Monaghan town college.
That was in 1956 and today St MacCartan's are back in the Bank of Ireland-sponsored final with St Patrick's, Dungannon, the opposition at Casement Park.
The omens would seem to favour the Farney boys as this season they won the Fr McCormick Cup - named after the school's former teacher and the prize for topping their section of the competition's league action.
Still, few people would have predicted this final pairing as St MacCartan's defeated a fancied Omagh CBS in the semi-finals while the Dungannon lads knocked St Patrick's, Maghera, off their All-Ireland and Ulster thrones.
It is certainly a strange looking final with the big guns of the past few years, Maghera, Enniskillen and Omagh, missing. The freshness of the occasion adds to what should be an intriguing clash.
Powering St MacCartan's from midfield will be Clontibret's Paul McGuigan who, in 2002, played a leading role in helping his club win both the Monaghan and Ulster minor titles.
He backbones the side but has able lieutenants in Stephen McAleer, Mark McCaffrey and Ronan Garvey. County under-18 manager Séamus Meehan and Pascal Smyth are the men in charge.
The absence of St Patrick's from the winning rostrum is not as long as the Monaghan school's, it's been seven years since they won the trophy.
The victory over Maghera will, of course, have given them a major boost and we can expect rousing performances from the likes of James Grimley, Ray Mulgrew, who is at solid centre-back, Shane O'Hagan, Martin Murray and scoring corner-forward Paul Forke.
The principal of St MacCartan's is Paraic Duffy, the former chairman of the GAC at Croke Park and an ex-Monaghan chairman. He's excited about the prospect of the cup returning to the school after that 48-year gap.
"It has been a long, long wait but, hopefully, the boys will succeed and bring the MacRory Cup back here. It would mean a lot to the school," he said.
The MacRory final will start at 1.15 p.m. (live on BBC1) and will be preceded by the Dr MacLarnon Cup decider between St Louis', Kilkeel, and Derry's St Columb's at 11.15 a.m.
