Walsh Cup/ Wexford 3-20 Antrim 1-14:John Meyler opened his inter-county senior management career with his new-look side fashioning a 12-point victory over Antrim at Piercestown yesterday.
Wexford's young players showed great commitment as they battled back from a point adrift at the break to produce a fine closing 20 minutes.
Antrim manager Terence McNaughton had the fillip his side needed as Liam Watson showed tremendous accuracy with three fine points to counter the free-taking accuracy of Barry Lambert to hand his side a 0-9 to 0-8 interval lead.
A blistering start to the second half saw Robbie Codd crash home a goal inside four minutes, while Wexford had edged into a 1-13 to 0-11 lead after 48 minutes.
The visitors' goal came in the 50th minute when corner forward Paul Shields pounced on a breaking ball to send the ball low past goalkeeper Dermot Flynn, to leave just two points separating the sides.
Wexford increased the tempo with Codd adding his second goal 11 minutes from time, while substitute Rory Jacob netted from an acute angle a minute into additional time.
