US Tour/ Buick Invitational:Tiger Woods moved in on another title last night, leading the Buick Invitational by two shots with just one hole to play in the final round.

Four-times champion Woods - bidding for a seventh consecutive victory on the PGA Tour - eagled the par-five ninth and relentlessly moved up the leaderboard at Torrey Pines.

The world number one rattled off three birdies - and one bogey - to reach the turn at 13 under par, level with Tour rookie Jeff Quinney and one behind Australia's Andrew Buckle.

Quinney, boosted by an eagle-three at the sixth and a chip-in for birdie at the eighth, finished on two under for the day for a total of 10-under 278.

Americans Mark Calcavecchia and Brandt Snedeker, surprise leader for the first three rounds, were 10-under and 11 under respectively.

Calcavecchia had just one hole to play and Tour rookie Snedeker two.

Woods, winner at Torrey Pines for the last two years, made a fast start in near-perfect conditions on the tough South Course.

He set up a birdie at the par-four second with a superb approach to just three feet and holed a seven-footer at the par-four fourth. That took him to 11 under and, briefly, into a four-way tie for the lead.

Buckle, however, forged one stroke clear after picking up his third shot of the day at the par-four fifth where he hit his second shot to within eight feet of the flag.

Quinney made his move up the leaderboard by holing a 40-footer for eagle at the sixth followed by birdies on seven and eight. Woods, who faltered with a bogey at the seventh where he found the left fairway bunker off the tee, responded in style.

He collected his third birdie of the round at the par-three eighth and eagled the par-five ninth, where he reached the green in two and rolled in a 26-footer.

Briefly tied for the lead at 13 under, Woods gave his trademark fist pump before striding off to the 10th tee.

Ian Poulter and Robert Allenby had similiar stories in yesterday's final round. Both started the fourth round in tied 26th position - and two players carded four-under-par rounds to jump up the leaderboard, each finishing with nine-under 279.

That was still two shots behind Bubba Watson, who shot a final round five-under 67 to leave a total of 11-under 277 for the tournament.

England's Justin Rose again failed to follow up on his strong first round of 68 - instead carding a third-successive round of 73 last night. Vijah Singh finished the four rounds in two less shots, a two-under-par 70 yesterday completing a mixed weekend for the Fijian.
