A conference event offering students the opportunity network and to learn more about how to get started in their career of choice takes place this week at UCD.
Over 200 people are expected to attend the half-day National Student Talks 2016 conference which will feature six-minute long presentations by students on their chosen subject. Organisers describe the event as an opportunity to share ideas, network with like-minded people, have fun and raise career profiles in the process. Organisers have said the event has sold out.
The free event is open to all students (undergraduate and postgraduate) and to early career professional presenters.
Students can choose to present on a paper they have worked on for college, a piece of research or a business idea or pitch.
A number of invited speakers will also share their stories and give advice to those starting out in their careers.
Invited speakers include TCDSU president and Seanad candidate Lynn Ruane, cyber-psychology researcher Dr Brendan Rooney, Bank of Ireland StartLabHQ community manager Tracy Keogh; Dog Day Media founder Alex Musgrave; postdoctoral researcher in music, Dr Áine Mangaoang, Google director of people operations Brian Kennan, and human computer interaction lecturer Dr David Coyle.
The 2016 Student Talks Conference will take place in the George Moore Auditorium in UCD on Wednesday March 9th from 12pm and at the end of the day, the best talk will win the Student Talks Speaker Award 2016.
