Tech Tools: Eufy SmartDrop turns deliveries high-tech

The SmartDrop delivery box provides a secure place for couriers to store your packages until you can get home

The Eufy SmartDrop: accepts your deliveries remotely

€372 ($400)

If you’ve been working from home for the past two years, the missed package notices are probably more of a rarity than they were before. But now, with the return to the workplace under way, it is about to make a comeback. Unless Eufy releases this smart letterbox outside the US, that is. The SmartDrop delivery box will provide a secure place for couriers to store your packages until you can get home to collect them. If the box is empty, the delivery person can press the open button and leave the item inside; you can also provide them with a PIN, or access it through your phone or smart voice assistants.

It has a HD camera and two-way audio so you can speak to the delivery person, and you can always fall back on the traditional key if needed. The box is all metal, so it will protect your packages from the elements, and it is big enough to fit the majority of deliveries inside – or even two. It isn’t cheap, at $400 (€372), but if you can’t have packages delivered to work, it’s a more convenient alternative than endlessly rescheduling deliveries. It’s not available in Europe yet, but who knows what will happen in the future?
