The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family of a 7-year-old girl who drowned in a swimming pool in Mallorca.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in the HYB Eurocalas Hotel in the east of the Balearic Island.
It is understood the girl was pulled out of the pool unresponsive and CPR was performed.
The young girl was then transported to the Son Espases Hospital in the capital city of Palma in an ambulance with a police escort where she died pronounced dead on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said they are aware of the case. “[We] are providing all possible consular assistance. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of any specific case.”
The HYB Eurocalas Hotel was contacted for comment.
