A gateway site overlooking much of Navan town centre is expected to attract considerable interest when it goes for sale this week on the instructions of receivers Duff & Phelps.

Gavin Hanlon of agents Hooke & MacDonald is guiding €750,000 for the high-profile 2.27 hectares (5.63 acres) at the Mollies on the northern bank of the river Blackwater.

It has about 160 metres of frontage on to the local road network and adjoins the M3 motorway.

The site zoning under the Navan Town Development Plan provides for “visitor and tourist accommodation and leisure facilities.” In 2008 the planners granted planning permission for a development of 64 apartments and a 135-bedroom hotel and conference centre on site. The planning expired in 2013.

Hooke & MacDonald say the site “would be well suited to a mixed use development in line with the existing zoning”.
