Eircom has sold PhoneWatch to Sector Alarm Corporation of Norway, the Irish company announced today. No price was given.
The sale of PhoneWatch comes after Eircom decided it was not a core business, said Eircom chief executive Herb Hribar.
Sector Alarm Corporation operates in both Norway and Sweden and has alarms in approximately 200,000 homes in those countries. It deals exclusively in residential properties, according to its website.
Eircom said the service to PhoneWatch customers will continue as usual and that all customer contracts remain in place.
The sale will allow Eircom concentrate on delivering next generation technologies to its fixed and mobile customers, Mr Hribar said in a statement.
“We are delighted that we have found a purchaser in the home security sector that is expanding into the Irish market and investing in Ireland.”
Sector Alarm CEO and founder, Jørgen Dahl, said he was delighted with the purchase of PhoneWatch which would give Sector Alarm an immediate presence and platform for growth in the Irish market.
