Super Silly Other Voices
****
Super Silly, the Irish-African combo, currently have a select appeal, as we say euphemistically.
But given their seductive performance at Other Voices that is likely to change, as more people encounter the effortless bounce of their broken-hearted music, a vibrant melding of wincing soul and lubricious RnB.
“It’s going to get vibey,” they warn us. And vibey it gets.
Their prepossessing singer, Glory, beckons the audience forward and invites us into an ingratiating fusion of hip hop and jazz piano flurries on the imploring Here the insistent Whoa and the grittily menacing Liquor.
That the last is a surly admonishment of a drunk dialling girl, reminds you they’ve still got some lyrical growing up to do, but it’s a heady brew all the same.
In three words: It’s getting serious.
