Two wines from Aldi this week, part of their seasonal autumn range. Both come from the sunny Languedoc in the south of France. Once rare, plantings of marsanne in the south of France are increasing as growers try out more varied varieties.
Fitou is a large wine producing region that lies to the south and east of Corbières. The wines are fairly similar – although don’t tell the locals that. The wines are almost all red and made from a blend of carignan and grenache, with a little syrah or mourvèdre.
