Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
Yes, 90 per cent of the time. Having been a professional athlete for 15 years, I picked up some good habits along the way. I've tried to maintain some of that.
How often do you exercise?
Since retiring, I do one gym session a week. I might swim or cycle as well, so I probably exercise two or three times a week. Last year, I cycled from Mizen Head to Malin Head for cancer research. In seven days, we did about 800km. I'm doing the same this year but in reverse. It might be a bit harder because generally with the wind in Ireland it's easier to go from south to north, but we might get lucky.
Do you get your five a day?
I don't stick religiously to that but I'd have fruit, nuts or seeds with porridge at breakfast and I'd have vegetables with dinner or lunch.
Do you worry?
I think everyone worries, I think there is probably something wrong with you if you don't but it's how much you worry. In rugby there is a reward for anxiety in performance but if it gets too much, it affects you so I try to keep on a even keel.
What do you do to relax?
I like to cycle, swim or do gym work as a form of mental relaxation.
What's your unhealthiest habit?
I like the odd drink but I wouldn't drink an awful lot. I don't smoke. I've a very sweet tooth, that's probably the worst thing. I stay away from jellies but anything with chocolate on it I tend to go for.
