Local rail services disrupted as emergency services attempt to bring body ashore

Rail services between Cork and Cobh in east Cork have been suspended due to the discovery of a body close to the rail line.

Emergency services are at the scene of the discovery on the shoreline near Glounthane.

Gardaí are awaiting Coastguard assistance in bringing the body ashore.

It’s understood a passenger travelling on the commuter train between Glounthane and Fota may have spotted the body and alerted Gardaí.

Cork to Cobh rail services have been suspended until further notice to allow safe access to the scene.
