Gardaí appeal for information on unexplained burn injuries over Tallaght shooting

Investigators also urge those with information on three vehicles to come forward

Gardaí investigating a Dublin shooting on Friday have appealed to anyone who knows of a person with unexplained burn injuries to come forward.

Gardaí in Tallaght are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the shooting.

A man in his 50s was shot in the incident, which occurred at a domestic residence on Cookstown Road, Tallaght, at about 12.10pm. He remains in hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Gardaí are particularly appealing to anyone who was on Cookstown Road on Friday between 11.45am and 12.15pm to come forward. They are also appealing for information in relation to three vehicles which are believed to have been involved in the incident. These are:

– A small, dark van which was discovered on fire in Kilcarrig Close, Tallaght, on Friday at about 12.15pm,

– A small, black car, discovered partially burnt in Rathmill Glen, Rathcoole, a short time later, and

– A small, silver hatchback car that may have been parked in Rathmill Glen, Rathcoole, for up to 24 hours prior to the shooting.

Anyone who may have information about the vehicles, or who may have camera footage of these areas between Thursday evening and Friday afternoon, is asked to contact investigating gardaí.

Investigating gardaí are also appealing to anyone who knows of any person who sustained unexplained burn injuries in the past 24 hours to inform them at Tallaght Garda station on 01-6666000, or contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any Garda station.
