Fire fighters are battling to contain a large hillside fire which has spread across an area near Broadford in Co Clare on Thursday evening.

The blaze is understood to have been burning for a number of hours and is being fought by Scariff Fire Service.

While it has grown to cover a large area, no people or property are believed to be under threat.

It comes a day after one of the largest wildfires this year was fought in the same county by firefighters for 11 hours on Ben Dash between Lissycasey and Kilmaley.
