small pots of toasted seeds which work well with oats.

150 ml yoghurt.

The advice for home breakfast cereal producers is generally to soak grains for 20 minutes before flaking, unless you are using oats which can be flaked without soaking.

A mug full, prior to flaking, is enough for one person.

We always mix our breakfast cereal with plain low-fat yoghurt and use a little freshly milled flax seed with it. We don't oppose the use of dried fruits but don't much see the point either, though raisins are known to be good for dental health.

Far better to skin an apple and dice it into the bowl. Add in the juices and diced portions of a mango and you have a perfect balance of sweet and sour in the fruit and yoghurt and something tough for the teeth to chew on in the oats. Chew thoroughly.

From a health point of view you've almost done your duty before leaving home in the morning. But wait, this also tastes really good. And it's simple to make.
