An Irish man has died while diving off the Egyptian coast.
The man is understood to be in his 30s and the incident is believed to have occurred in the seas off Dahab.
The Red Sea resort, on the east coast of the Sinai Peninsula, is hugely popular with divers from all over the world.
The man has yet to be formally identified and the cause of death is as yet unknown.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said they were aware of the case and have offered consular assistance to the man’s family.
While there are no concrete details as to the circumstances surrounding his death some areas of the Dahab resort are notoriously perilous.
One area in particularly, known as the Blue Hole has claimed the lives of as many as 130 people over the last 15 years.
