Jakarta - A grandson of former Indonesian President Suharto went on trial yesterday on charges of illegal firearms possession, facing the death sentence.

Mr Ari Haryo Wibowo, popularly known as Ari Sigit, has been detained since police said they found ammunition stashed in his Jakarta house two months ago during a search for his fugitive uncle, Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra.
