Sir, – Your editorial on the shortage of teachers attributes some of this scarcity to the fact that younger teachers opt to take up teaching posts abroad, notably in the Middle East and Australia (“The Irish Times view on teacher shortages: Dublin or Dubai?”, November 7th).
Teachers are not the only professionals who are culpable of using the education that has been funded by Irish taxpayers to serve in countries that have made no contribution to the costs of their expensive training. – Yours, etc,
