Sir, – I applaud Sadhbh O’Neill’s decision to adopt a car-free lifestyle (“Six months ago, I went car-free and I have no regrets”, Opinion & Analysis, March 25th).
The positive mental health, physical health and social benefits of choosing cycling and public transport over private car use are significant for an individual and society.
Cars will always be needed but fewer of them are better.
Those of us who can manage without one should consider taking up the alternative options available.
