`Why can’t we have nice things too?’

I noticed some things I’ll miss back in Dublin

Sir. – I was lucky to have just enjoyed a long weekend in Prague, I noticed some things I’ll miss back in Dublin: No seagulls or broken bin bags downtown – in fact no litter. A medieval city with no commercial wheelie bins or stinking piles of litter visible.

72 hours unlimited and seamless public transport, including to/from the airport for 335CZK or €13.50.

Numerous public toilets, clean, and supervised throughout the city.

Spotless pothole-free streets, smooth, or properly cobbled footpaths and public seating areas.

Beautiful parks and public squares, beer gardens, playgrounds and communal areas.

Why can’t we have nice things too? – Yours, etc,

COLM WALSH,

Rathmines,

Dublin 6.
