A game loaded in favour of the estate-agent agenda

Letter of the Day

Sir, – The ESRI study on buyers’ bidding behaviour pushing up property prices makes the process of purchasing a house in Ireland sound like a roulette wheel game. (“Ireland’s bidding system for homes ‘driving prices higher’”, February 9th).

A game where the estate agent spins the wheel in one direction while seeking the best property for a buyer, and then spins a ball in the opposite direction to get the highest price for the seller.

A game nobody wants to play but to win you have to get addicted to the property market. – Yours, etc,

DERMOT O’ROURKE,
