Sir, – On consecutive days, the chief executives of two Irish banks were asked on radio interviews about their new double digit salary increases – bringing them to over €600,000.
It’s the remuneration committee of their boards who set these increases – completely beyond their control – what were they to do?
They in turn, however, decided that the staff who have more than helped in delivering spectacular results were worth only 4 per cent. The remuneration committee could do nothing for them – beyond their control. – Yours, etc,
