Sir, – I think what makes Ireland such a wonderful place to live in is how convivial we are as a nation.
It is very nice to exchange salutations with virtual strangers.
However, this can often lead to conversations when one finds out a connection with the other person, eg recently on finding the other person’s origin, it turned her brother, a farmer, had sold a field for a school sports ground to one of the family.
On another occasion, while waiting for a table in a restaurant, the family got talking to a gentleman at the bar and a conversation took place about where we were from.

Eventually, we got our table and my two daughters followed me, very amused. The gentleman’s parting words to them were “I have two sons at home I’d like to get rid of, Would you two girls be interested?” Hilarious. I hope we will never change. - Yours, etc,
