Iarnród Éireann should consider halting intrusive announcements on Dart

Sir, – Further to David R Pike’s letter (August 6th), maybe Iarnród Éireann should also consider discontinuing the intrusive announcements on the Dart.

Is it really necessary to announce the destination of the train, the next station to be reached and to mind the gap, in Irish as well as English, when the information is already there in the passenger information display above each door of the carriage? – Yours, etc,
